What could be more exciting than exploring new places with a great group of friends? The HSV Roadrunners Club is for those people living in the Village who dreamed of exploring the country when they retired – and they’re now doing it in their own RV’s! The Club has explored our own state of Arkansas including: Bella Vista, Crater of Diamonds, Eureka Springs, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Mt. Magazine State Park, Petit Jean State Park, and other locations. With trips planned throughout the year, the Roadrunners have traveled far and wide – as far west as California, as far east as New York, north as far as Canada, and south as far as Florida. Among their destinations over the years are Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Pennsylvania and many more. In fact, they’ve been to more than 30 states and they’re not done exploring yet! According to Nancy Gilbert, a Roadrunner member, “Traveling is more fun with a group of great people. Retirement and RV’ing are a perfect match.”
With 42 member couples on the roster, the Club meets monthly with one or two couples hosting each meeting. Meeting locations and hosts are listed on the website, along with the trip schedule, www.hsvroadrunners.com. And what do the Roadrunners do when they aren’t RV’ing? Once a year they work together on a Habitat for Humanity build – certainly a lofty effort!
